A little over a year ago we posted an interview with our good friend and amateur gay porn star Rylan, Indy’s Own Sean Cody Boy Rylan. We had interviewed many porn stars, both straight and gay, and had really wanted to interview someone we knew well to get the real answers. Did we ever! Rylan’s answers to “how much money can you make in porn?” landed him at the top page of almost every national gay website and thread. He is the number one highest viewed interview we have EVER done, to this day, beating out singer MYA, Kelly Cutrone, and even Chelsea Lately’s Heather McDonald! And for this he will forever be in our book, an epic porn star affecting change in the industry! Literally hundreds upon hundreds of comments, both positive and negative, have come from the interview, but it’s Rylan’s attitude we find so endearing and attractive. We always knew, even though we stated we would no longer be posting porn star interviews, that we would save one or two or even post one if it was pertinent to our mission. Being that this week is Gay Pride in Indy, we thought it was only appropriate to shed light on one of Indy’s prize gay treasures. And although many may judge him for his decision to be a porn star, we believe it is his confidence, his attitude and his absolute pride that continue to shoot him to the top!

1. We interviewed you a year and a half ago and since then, you have received the most views of any single interview we have ever done. Also, numerous web threads and other articles
have been written based on our interview because you discussed what you made while filming for Sean Cody. Any response?
It seems kinda crazy that that one answer caused so much feedback. I have read a lot of blogs and other postings that this interview received and I was surprised by how much negative feedback there was. I am also flattered that my interview is your highest viewed interview, whether it be positive or negative.
2. If you had to prove what you made on Sean Cody, could you?
It is funny to me that people don’t believe I made what I say I did. I have the tax returns and the 1099 forms stating what I brought home for Sean Cody. The number that I used last time was before taxes, so my take home pay was less than that number but the number I answered with before was what I walked out of the studio with. I mean, I think its pretty low class when people say “There’s no way you made that much!”. I would never ask someone what they made and then look at them and say “Bullshit”. People can be so petty and judgmental sometimes. There are bigger issues than trying to argue with someone who I may have met once or never before at all over what I made from Sean Cody. I think someones personal income is their own business but I also have no problem proving what I say. I have the documents to back up my story. Moving on….. (That question has gotten kinda old if you couldn’t tell.
3. Any other numbers you would like to discuss regarding the adult film industry?
Not really. I guess the one thing is the number of straight guys that are in gay porn. I think that number is a lot higher than most people think. I mean true, if you say your straight but then and go do 20-30 films for a porn company with another guy, then there may be a hidden lust / desire for the same sex. I mean to be honest I don’t really care for the whole label topic. I think that there is a little bit of gay in everyone just as there is a little bit of straight in everyone.
4. What do you have planned next and why are you considering to move forward with your porn career at this time when you had been holding back?
Not really sure how to answer this. I will be working with Brent Everett for his studio. I dunno why I picked now to go back into porn…. I guess I have already done it and everyone knows that and …. yeah. I mean, I had fun before. And we are all only so young for so long. And if someone thinks negatively towards me for going back into it now….. FUCK THEM. It’s my life. Not theirs.
5. What positive opportunities has porn offered you?
Porn gave me (and is giving me) the chance to travel all around and to go to events like the Grabbys and to meet a ton of people. I got to meet and hang out with Roman Heart, Steve Pena, Brent Everett, Dean Monroe, Chi Chi, and others. It has given me the chance to make friends from all over the country.

6. What is your family’s stance on your porn career now?
My family knows about it. They are as “cool” as they can be about it. My parents don’t really like it but they also know that it is and was my choice and yeah..
7. How does doing porn affect your having a relationship?
It does make relationships hard. The other person has to be OK with you going off to do a “job”. And it really is a job. Its not like a hookup from a bar on a random Saturday night. I have had boyfriends that are totally fine with the porn and others who were definitely not OK with it. It takes a strong person to be OK with dating someone who does porn.
8. On Sean Cody you did solo and coupled scenes. Which one is more difficult and why?
Oh man. The solo was the hardest. I was so nervous and it was the first thing i did with them. It just seemed easier after getting that first solo out of the way.
9. Would you ever do a straight porn scene and if so who would you want to be paired with?
Hmmmm. I probably would never do straight porn, but…. If i had to pick a chick to have sex with, it would probably been Jennifer Aniston. She is just ungodly hot.
10. What was it like working with Brent Everett who JUST won Best Actor and Best Performer(along with Samuel Colt) for the 2011 Grabby Awards?
Well, I don’t know yet. I just meet him and Steve Pena over Memorial Day weekend and I am in the process of starting to work for them. I haven’t filmed for them yet. But I will let you guys know as soon as I do. They are both super great guys. I am definitely looking forward to working with them in the future.

11. You also worked with Brent’s husband Steve Pena we’re assuming. How do they appear to make a successful relationship work within the boundaries of the adult film industry?
Like I said above, haven’t worked with them yet, but both are amazing. Again, I think it takes a special guy to be able to date a guy who is in porn. I don’t know the details on their relationship so I would like to not comment on it. Both are great guys and I would like to respect their privacy.
12. How has the gay community in Indianapolis responded to you since you finished with Sean Cody?
I guess you can say mixed… I have had people call me trash for what I did. So what…. Those are usually the people who go home and spend HOURS looking at porn. Pretty much all of my friends have positive things to say about it. I mean I like to think of my self as a normal 20-something, proud, gay man who happens to be in porn. Instead of a porn guy who happens to be mid twenties, single. My “normal life” comes before my “porn life”.
13. Other Sean Cody, and porn stars for that matter, are from Indianapolis. Why do you think they aren’t as open about their history in the business as you are?
I can not speak for the others but everyone has their own personal reasons for being as open or not as open as they are about their past. I like to think that I live my life like an open book. I know people know I have done porn. Big deal. Everyone has looked at porn at some point in their life. To me, its a job. I live my life with no regrets what so ever.

14. In Indianapolis, what is the sexiest bar? Sexiest hotel? Sexiest place to kiss? Sexiest Restaurant? Sexiest College in Indiana? Sexiest Date? Sexiest Person? Sexiest Couple?(In Indianapolis…his hometown)
OH MAN…….
Bar = Sensu. Talbott. There really are more than you think. I don’t want to pick just one… but Sensu is definately pretty sexy.
Hotel = JW Marriot!!!!!
Kiss = The canal, the gardens at IMA, or Holcomb Gardens at Butler. (pretty sappy, I know….)
Restaurant = man….there are so many. I love too many to pick just one.
College = IU has the best looking guys for sure, but I like the party scene at Purdue a lot too. Butler has some sexy guys as well..
Date = Have to say the best date I ever had was when this guy and I went to Adobo Mexican Restaurant downtown & ate, and then spent the next 2-3 hours just walking around downtown talking and getting to know one another. Too bad that was the only time we went on a date…..
Person = NOT ANSWERING!. I am not picking a person. There are a lot of sexy people in Indianapolis.
Couple = Alex & Peter! Haha. Again, there are so many great couples in Indy. Really like Peyton Manning and his wife. They seem to be great people and both are always helping others through charities and what not.
15. What advice would you give an 18 year old gay male wanting to enter the adult film industry?
Make sure its something you really want to do and that you will be ok with the outcome. Once you do it, it’s with you for life. Oh, and OWN it.
16. What three things would you change in Indianapolis to make it more gay friendly?
I think Indy has made great progress with the LGBT community. HOWEVER….. Indiana as a whole needs to step far away from the thought of making “marriage” strictly between a man and a woman. Why should someone that I have never met have the right to tell me that I can not marry the person that I love…. totally wrong. But I think Indianapolis is starting to come around. Pride has grown every year to be bigger and better. People just need to be accepting of others and their views.

17. Since this is Pride Week in Indianapolis, how do you define Pride?
I think Pride is just being OK and comfortable in your own skin. I am very proud of who i am and what I have done. I live my life with no regrets. Its kinda dumb to say but if instead of telling people what to be or how to act or who to love, we just accept people for who and what they are.
18. What are three non-gay specific bars you feel very comfortable going to in Indianapolis?
Brothers in Broadripple, Scottys (all three), and Kilroys. Also like Bartinnis, Sensu, OPT’s, Mineshaft….
19.What are three positive things about being gay in Indianapolis?
The “group” of gays in Indy are very open and friendly. Everytime you go out in Indy, you always meet someone knew. The “scene” here in Indy is ever growing. There seems to be a new place to hang out just about every month. And the best thing i think is that the friends that I have made in Indianapolis since I came out a few years ago are friends that I will hold onto and be great friends for many years to come.
20. Any plans to entertain any football players while the Superbowl is in Indy?
HAHAHAHAHA who knows. No plans….. Yet.

21. What’s next after Brent Everett?
I don’t know…. Right now just taking life one day at a time and enjoying it.
22. And again…Boxers, briefs, jockstraps…or nothing at all?
HAHA depends. At home, work, or gym its boxer briefs. A sexy night out on the town, I may wear something a little more sexy like UNICOs or AussieBums or something fun like that.
I have a funny pair that I wear sometimes. They say “Your Place or Mine across the ass.
Also have some DEISELS that have some cool, sexy sayings across the butt.
Thanks buddy! Love ya!
